Bullet hole decals in Godot Engine

I’m trying to make bullet hole decals and I am using the
Screen Space Decals plugin (https://godotengine.org/asset-library/asset/241).
The decals work without a texture (a black rectangle by default) but as soon as I drag and drop a texture to the decal property the bullet holes become invisible. What could the problem be?
Any other methods to create bullet hole decals will also be appreciated.
