Confusion with Power of Two/ Sprite resolution/Dimensions?

I’m confused on the proper way on how to deal with sprites, and making them effcient on devices. I’ve read the proper way to handle sprites is to make them/ export in Power of Two resolutions (1024,2048 ) for efficiency.

But if I’m playing my game in HD resolutions, wouldn’t the sprites be blurry and low quality? Do I make my png’s in the resolution the games will be played at or at Power of Two dimensions? What’s the relationship between them?

Thank you.

It looks like setting your images’ w&h to power of 2 only matters if you intend to have them scale accordingly when the game screen shrinks. For more info, look at the mipmap settings of importing images: Importing images — Godot Engine (stable) documentation in English?
