In Blender you can store parts of your mesh in different layers.
Would it be possible to have, for instance, 3 type of shoes for a character, in 3 layers, and switch between them using code (or any other method) ?

I can't seam to see anything related to that, in the inspector at least. I can not even see my full model (I should triple check the collada export though).

The point would be to have only one model for a character, and show/hide some parts of the mesh in certain circumstances, to cover many "situations" without as many models.
