I imported png 72 ppi and the quality was terrible (the import settings did not help). Then I import png 288 ppi and set the scale settings to 0.25 (control node / rect), the quality was excellent (but only on my mac retina display, on the win laptop with a not-so-good screen, “stairs” appeared)
Unfortunately, I didnt find the material how to properly use images in ui and sprites to achieve the highest quality.

What images to import and what to configure in the project settings?
I will be grateful if you share your experience)

p.s. my projectsettings (window) 1280x720 stretch 2d/expand, I use Adobe Illustrator
