Glow effect changes with aspect ratio

I was playing with the glow effect a little bit and I found a strange behavior. It seems that the effect changes with the aspect ratio of the window i.e. the light bleeds more horizontally with a wide window and more vertically with a tall window.

This seems incorrect to me and it might be that a glow buffer (or something similar) is of squared size and stretched across the screen. Can I fix it somehow?
