Why is Godot launching directly into running game?

I’m running Godot v2.1.4 on Windows 10, and after initial launch and session, subsequent launches start right up into a running instance of the last game I was working on, seemingly with no way to get back to the project list. Closing the game window shuts down the whole application. Is there a way to get out of this short of a clean reinstall, and is there a setting somewhere to prevent this from happening in the future? Thanks.

Have you looked in the Godot settings? You may be able to have the editor launch with the list of projects.

Thanks, but the thing is that I can’t get into the settings because when I start up Godot it goes right into a running game and I haven’t figured out how to exit to the editor or project list from there…

Exporting projects — Godot Engine (stable) documentation in English

It seem that you have your Godot engine and engine.cfg in the same folder. Move it somewhere else and try opening it up again.

Look out for a data.pck in the directory where you start godot. Can happen when you export that file for i.e. use in iOS accidentially to that very directory.

Thanks for the suggestion, @wombatstampede - but I haven’t exported anything yet.

Thanks, @inTech – that did the trick. I’d created this game without giving it it’s own subfolder, so its engine.cfg was created in the root folder with Godot. Moving it into the subfolder worked.
