Babble Engine 1.3.2 Tools 4.7 Community

Your characters want to talk. Babble Engine turns any line of text into gibberish speech: critter chatter, made-up languages, grumbling trolls, beeping robots, whispering fairies and soft musical tones. No voice actors, no server, no dependencies.

Add a BabbleSpeaker node (an AudioStreamPlayer), pick a style, voice and mood in the Inspector, and call speak("Hi! Do you want an apple?"). It renders on a background thread and signals every syllable, so you can flap a mouth, bounce a sprite or reveal subtitles in sync.

Features:
- 16 styles and 70 voices, from Critter Chatter and Babblish to Droid Chirps, Text Blips and a talking kazoo
- 6 moods: neutral, happy, angry, sad, flirty, surprised
- Signals: line_started(text), syllable(index, text), line_finished
- Your own voice: record it in the free web tool at babble.wrongfloor.studio, export it, and set Own Voice File on the speaker
- Same text, options and seed give the same sound every time, and the same sound as the web version
- BabbleEngine.render(text, options) gives you the raw samples and syllable times if you don't want the node
- Demo scene included: addons/babble_engine/demo/demo.tscn

Audio you make with Babble Engine is yours to use, also in commercial games. Code: MIT. Made by Wrong Floor.
