Blender's Blend Shapes/Shape Keys will be supported in GLES2 someday?

Or will it always be GLES3 exclusive? Is there any workaround? You know, besides doing a complex face rigging with bones.

Btw, I can’t import those in Unity neither, it’s a tie there (most threads seems to be Godot vs Unity)

I tried Godot at the begining of 2020, I drop it because the console was full of errors (it said something about opengl), I heard that it worked again in older hardware so I was more interested, then a friend showed me this “Naruto-Arena Next Generations” game that it seems it can only be found on Discord, we both recognized the Godot logo and I decided to give it another try.

With no knowledge at all (besides the small “graphics” test I did before), the first thing that I did was to import a 3D Model with the Collada Exporter for Blender that I downloaded when I first tried, no luck, I tried FBX, a new FBX and nothing. (Well, Godot says that isn’t avaliable, but Unity just bugs and crash as hell), I have an issue with animations too, but that is probably my fault or Blender’s fault.

So what are you trying to accomplish? Do you want to import a 3D model that has these “shape keys” on them? BTW, when version 4.0 of the engine is released, the developers will mainly focus on GLES3 and Vulkan. GLES2 will have limited support after that.

VS

Mostly because of that, I don’t really care for “Lower visual quality” what does it really mean? I never liked HD 4K games, I’m fine with PS2 era. Besides, as far as I know, people are using Godot mainly for 2D, that shouldn’t be an issue, less important for pixel games. (unless it means “Lower perfomance”)

By features yeah, I think I it was my main issue with that Renderer, I wonder what are the other features not avaliable in 2.0.

Works on most hardware + Recommended for web games, well, I’m not interested in Web Games, but hell I do like compatibility, 3.0 says that it’s “Incompatible with older hardware” does that means only the ones that don’t support OpenGL 3? Or it needs more resources to run properly?

Anyway, yeah, “Shape Keys” are just Blender’s name for “Blendshapes” they are used to modify vertex together with bone influences, mostly used for facial expresions, it could be used for extra details (but I’m only interested in facial expresion atm)

With regards to the Blender stuff, what did you try to export the model in order to have those facial expressions?
