How to stop godot from refracting objects in front

In the first image a square rod is above a refractive surface.
In the second it is dragged below.

Why is it being rendered as it was below in the first picture?

How do i simply hide it or just do a reflection on the surface instead?

From the offical documents it says that “When refraction is enabled, it supersedes alpha blending, and Godot attempts to fetch information from behind the object being rendered instead.” So did i just find a bug?
