if I export my project will my .tscn, .tres, .gd become .scn, .res, .gdc etc..(in binary formats)?
if so, will my preload work with the new file extension preload("res://scene.tscn")?

tscn is indeed converted to scn. Your code should still work because internally Godot remaps the file names, like it also does for imported resources (i.e when you load a png, it actually loads it's imported stex StreamTexture version).

This is not actually the case; the documentation was corrected to reflect this.
