I want to create some land that has both repeating grass texture and a repeating sand texture that can blend together. I'm using Blender to make the ground mesh, but I'm not sure how to go about texturing it.

Yes, thank you! I used the RGB vertex paint method like in that example, although I changed it to be 2 textures instead of 1 texture. Here is my result: http://i.imgur.com/vzrUD4H.png
it's great just share it here in Q&A in project category so other people can use it too . until the asset store will be available.
