Can't start the engine.

:warning: Old Version Published before Godot 3 was released.

I am trying to start Godot 2.0.4 and I get the following message:

“The application is unable to start correctly (0x0000142). Click OK to close the application”

Up to now it was working fine. I downloaded a new instance of the engine but the same error occurs. What is happening?

Which OS are you running? Is Avast Antivirus doing a mess with its SmartScreen thing?
Is there a engine.cfg in the same folder Godot is in? Are you on a laptop and is the correct GPU being used?

I am running Windows 8 64bit on a laptop but I don’t use Avast antivirus. I was always running Godot without the engine.cfg in the same folder.

EDIT : new versions of Godot should display a warning dialog bow before crashing now.

Godot will just fail and crash when running on computers with incompatible graphics card (like most previous generation of Intel integrated graphics processors).
