So I downloaded Godot from this website and tried to open it, when i did open it, i could see a terminal pop up, but i couldnt see what it said, then it suddenly said “Godot Engine Editor (stable) has stopped working” i tried to download the 32 bit version and i tried from Steam, but it kept happening. How do i fix this?

This is usually related to old graphics cards and their drivers. What OS are you using and what graphics card do you have?

The unhelpful Godot Engine Editor (stable) has stopped working message hints that it would be a Windows version. As mentioned by vnen, it’s likely an issue with you GPU or IGP which does not support OpenGL 2.1 (at least with Windows’ drivers).

In such cases, you can try 3 things:

  • Update your drivers
  • Move to Linux, MesaGL might give you enough software rendering features to use Godot
  • Buy a newer GPU
