I have a scene with a spatialnode < mesh < static body < collisions shape, the mesh has code that functions when it is instanced in a scene, however when I convert the scene to tilemap the functionality no longer works. Am i going about this wrong?

I don't think it works like that. What you can do instead is instance the mesh in place in the world using the tile map. Here's my reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1K2k0Bw4CA now the tutorial is in 3d but the concept is fairly the same.
