Why does my Mesh deform at extreme locations?

I am a beginner making a simple game and I modeled a robot and gave it controls. You basically walk around but there’s gravity. It was working great until I let it fall for a long time, when I noticed something odd. The more and more it fell, the more stretched it became. it became noticeable around -2000 on the y-axis, and got terrifyingly extreme at about -10,000. Does anyone know why this would be the case? Perhaps a compression issue, or just a bug in the engine itself?
