"Unshaded" material receives projected shadow from other elements

Is it possible to leave an “unshaded” material but it receives projected shadow from other elements? As in the attached pictures.

I’m not sure if that would make sense (from a rendering point of view). If a material is unshaded, then every pixel has the same brightness; thus, no shadows can be cast on it (nothing can make it lighter or darker).
