Not sure if bug or I'm doing something wrong. When I try to change the box_extents of one particle it changes it for all. If I select "Make Unique" in the editor it will not keep the setting after closing the scene.

  1. Click on Particles2D, scroll to its material, click on "Make Unique"
  2. Save + close
  3. Reopen, no longer unique in the editor

Pretty sure this is a bug, as it works if you duplicate in code. Opened an issue here. I've experienced this problem before too
