Just curious, what is the difference between asking a question on this site and on the Godot Dev forums?

This is probably the more appropriate place to post specific questions about problems with programming and engine use. The forums are more for having ongoing conversations, sharing ideas/projects/artwork etc. You’re also a lot more likely to get answers to specific questions here.
