How to add tire tracks behind a 3D car

I have made a simple car controller, and I want to add tire tracks behind it, but just can’t manage to do it.

I have already tried to use the new decal node in godot 4 and adding it behind the car, however this doesnt seem to work, because everytime i add a new child (i add the decal as a child to the scene and then set its position to the position of a marker3D behind the wheels) the other child gets moved to the new position too.

Is there a easier way to add tyre tracks behind my wheels?
