Light 2D with distortion canvas_item shaders

Is there a way to use Light2Ds for the environment with distortion canvas_item shaders without receiving weird blown out results?

I have used a backbuffer copy, played around with the z_layers of the lights, the backbuffer and the distortion shader and also tried render_mode unshaded.
