Red-colored font for properties in Editor when editing children of an instanced Scene

I’ve noticed that after enabling “Editable Children” in an instanced scene, the properties for them all have a red typeface on the editor.

Is this just a reminder that they are children of an instanced scene, or is there some other reason for that?

Is it considered bad practice in Godot to edit children of an instanced scene? I’ve been debating over whether I should have all relevant exported vars in the parent node and let it setup the children in its _ready() method instead.

If that’s bad practice I am a very bad bun.

I’m not really and expert on this unlike many other people on this platform but I believe that you should edit it in it’s own scene. I was trying to rig a hand to hold a pistol but it wouldn’t work when I edited the children. I think that you should use the actual scene and not the children themselves.
