I'm so confused on how games are developed, that I wish to give feedback.

The engine should allow me to be organized from start to end of my game.
Like, the beginning of the game should come in a folder of a certain color.
the levels should be in subfolders
the ending of the game should be in a folder.
The engine in my opinion should not have inherited scenes because it’s confusing.
The engine should make categories and keep everything visible.
I think it should instantly take my assets and organize them.
Signals, and connections should be automatic.
That would make it easy for noobs like me.

There’s my feedback. Roast me. go ahead.

too late for april fools

“I think it should instantly take my assets and organize them.”

are you suggesting that it automatically sort the assets into folders of models, materials, sound effects, particles etc?

First of all, this is not the place to give feedback, there are forums for feedback and suggestions.

But anyways… Games/software are complex things, there is no universal way or method so you make your own organization.

Also, until an ultra advanced AI that can read your mind is developed, a game engine wont be able to just pick assets from some folders and build a game.

With this said, there exist “Drag and drop” game engines which make it very easy for “noobs”, give them a try and you will soon discover how limited this is.

Give yourself a chance and actually sit down to learn Godot, you’ll get the hang of it in no time. You can pick a step-by-step tutorial for a simple kind of game from youtube to get an idea of how GDScript works, and you will quickly find yourself coding on your own.

Exactly 1 year ago i couldnt write a single line of code by myself, right now i have projects with over 2000 lines. You can do it too, start today.

Ahahahahahaha OP if you don’t accept this answer you’re just asking for enemies.

What if I told you that Godot is the most “noob-ready” engine ever made and other engines force you to follow certain workflows. The best part of it is that it’s open sourced too so if you don’t like the way things are setup you can build it to your liking.

Your suggestions are baseless because as a person develops their coding abilities they would demand more and more of the engine.

That is NOT true! this is not stackexchange. the only thing this person did wrong is posting this under engine, he should have posted it under gossip or something. Sorry, just felt I had to say something. =)

@Tato64, however, I like your answer! I just got a little negative when i saw the “this is not the place for…” it reminds me of stackexchange, and brings up painful memories. “While your at it, why don’t you just give me a good paper cut and pour lemon juice on it?!” the princess bride lol.

@the_cg, just keep at it. have you tried bornCGs beginner godot tutorials? you can learn if you find good direction.
